News: New Purple Guide chapter authored by Ise
Today the Events Industry Forum released a new chapter, Chapter 42: Zone Ex for the Guide to Health, Safety and Welfare at Outdoor Events (The Purple Guide). The Events Industry Forum invited me to write the chapter back in the summer of 2023. I immediately set out to develop it with the support of a working group carefully selected for their knowledge, experience and their roles representing stakeholders most involved with Zone Ex.
For someone who has worked almost her entire career in Zone Ex (unknowingly), this has been a very important project to me. I want to say thank you to Eric Stuart and the Events Industry Forum for entrusting me with it and for Eric in supporting and believing in me to deliver it.
I want to thank my working group for their support, honesty, wisdom and balanced approach: Becky Stevens, Emma Stuart, Rob Madeley, Mark Logan, Rachel Jackson, Darren Crossman, Shamsul Islam and Andy Underwood.
This chapter was written with extreme care and as much due diligence as possible. It was reviewed by esteemed colleagues in the industry from legal, regulatory and operational backgrounds. Every single sentence was carefully considered, every definition checked. I wanted to make sure this document could serve as a strong foundation for a rapidly evolving phenomenon.
It is now in the hands of the events industry and I hope that it may serve its purpose of supporting event organisers, local authorities, statutory agencies and key stakeholders in developing and delivering safe and successful zone ex-periences.
P.S. For Douglas Adams fans out there, the chapter number is not lost on me.
